Frequently Asked Questions
Straight, honest answers to what students and parents across India ask us most bias-free counselling actually works, to MBBS abroad, education loans, and how far in advance to start.
Which countries does Unify Abroad help students apply to?
We work across 24+ study destinations, grouped roughly by what students in India are usually looking for. For general undergraduate and postgraduate study, that's the USA, UK, Canada, Australia, Ireland and Germany — countries with strong global recognition and, in several cases, meaningful post-study work rights that factor heavily into most families' decisions. For students prioritising affordability alongside genuine international exposure, we also guide applicants toward the UAE (including Dubai's branch-campus ecosystem), Austria and Singapore, all of which offer degrees from recognised universities at a lower total cost than the traditional big-four destinations.
For MBBS specifically — one of the areas we handle most often, given how many NEET-qualified students don't secure a government seat in India — our focus is on NMC-recognised medical universities in Georgia, Kazakhstan, Russia, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Nepal.
Rather than starting from "which country should you pick," we start from your academic profile, budget, and career goals, and work backward to the destinations that genuinely fit — which sometimes means recommending a country a student hadn't originally considered. We're upfront that this industry runs largely on commissions from partner universities, and we don't let that quietly steer the recommendation. If a lower-commission option is the better fit for you, that's what we'll say, and we'll explain exactly why.
Is the first counselling session really free, with no obligation?
Yes. Your first session — whether that's a call, a video consultation, or an in-person visit to our Bhopal office — costs nothing and comes with no obligation to continue. We'll go through your academic background, budget, and the countries or courses you're considering, and give you an honest assessment of what's realistic for your specific profile.
If a particular course or destination doesn't suit you, we'll say so directly during that first conversation rather than push you toward it because it happens to carry a higher commission for us. That's a deliberate part of how Unify Abroad operates, not just something we say to sound trustworthy — you're welcome to test it by asking pointed questions about how we're compensated and watching whether the answer changes what gets recommended.
Only once you decide Unify Abroad is the right partner do we move into any paid services, and even then we explain clearly what those cover and cost before you commit to anything.
How is Unify Abroad different from large national consultancies?
The honest answer is scale, not necessarily quality. Several large national consultancies operate 50+ years of history, dozens of city offices across India, and sizeable marketing and technology budgets behind them. Unify Abroad is a smaller, Bhopal-based team — we don't pretend otherwise, and we think that's actually relevant information for you to have when choosing a consultant, not something to hide.
What that smaller scale buys you is a counselling relationship that doesn't route through a call centre or rotate you between different staff at each stage. The same counsellor who does your first session is typically the one who sees your application through to your visa. Our team also includes founders with real international education and career backgrounds themselves, not just sales-trained staff following a script.
Where a large national chain has a genuine edge is sheer volume of university partnerships. If you'd rather work directly with the people making the actual recommendations, in a smaller team where transparency about commissions and country selection is something we lead with rather than bury, that's where we think Unify Abroad fits better.
Do you help students with MBBS abroad?
Yes — MBBS abroad is one of our most requested services, largely because India's NEET-qualified applicant pool is far larger than the available government medical seats each year, leaving a significant number of qualified students looking at options overseas. We work with NMC-recognised medical universities across Georgia, Kazakhstan, Russia, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Nepal, where tuition and living costs typically run a fraction of private medical colleges in India.
NEET qualification is mandatory for any Indian student pursuing MBBS abroad — this isn't optional or something a consultant can work around — so every MBBS conversation starts there. From that point, we help verify genuine NMC recognition status against the official list rather than relying on a university's own marketing claims, and walk families through what's required to sit the FMGE or NExT licensing exam on return to India.
We also present the realistic total cost across the full 5–6 year MBBS duration, not just an attractive first-year tuition figure, since accommodation, living costs and exam preparation add up meaningfully over that time.
Do you help with education loans for studying abroad?
Yes — financing is often the single biggest constraint on where a student can realistically go, so loan guidance is a core part of what we do, not an add-on. We walk families through the main routes available: secured loans through nationalised banks (generally lower interest rates, but requiring collateral such as property), unsecured loans from NBFCs and dedicated education-loan lenders (faster processing, higher rates, no collateral needed), and government-backed options accessible via the Vidya Lakshmi portal.
Because loan terms — interest rates, moratorium periods, processing fees, collateral requirements — vary meaningfully between lenders and change over time, we compare current options against your specific situation rather than defaulting you to a single "preferred" lender.
Where it's relevant, we also flag scholarship and merit-aid opportunities that could reduce how much you need to borrow in the first place. See our Education Loan guide →
Do I need to visit your office in person, or can I get help from anywhere in India?
Both work, and increasingly most of our students choose entirely online support. Our office is based in Bhopal, but a large share of the students and families we work with are elsewhere in Madhya Pradesh and across India, managing the entire process — first counselling call, document review, application tracking, visa preparation — over video calls, phone, and WhatsApp.
If you're able to visit the Bhopal office in person for your first session, some families find that reassuring, since it gives you a chance to meet the team before committing to anything. But it's genuinely not a requirement, and we don't treat online-only students as a lesser priority — the same counsellor, the same process, and the same level of attention apply either way.
Whichever way you prefer to work with us, the free first session and everything that follows works the same — start with a call or message through the website, and we'll take it from there based on what's most convenient for you.
What does Unify Abroad charge beyond the free first session?
Pricing depends on which services you need beyond the initial free counselling, and we explain the specific cost for your situation clearly before you commit to anything — we don't believe in vague "package" pricing that only becomes clear once you're already partway through the process. Broadly, our paid services cover things like end-to-end application management across multiple universities, SOP and LOR writing support, and visa documentation guidance, each of which can be taken individually or bundled depending on how much hands-on support you want.
We're not the cheapest option in the market, and we're also not positioned as a premium, high-fee brand — our approach is to price services in line with what they genuinely involve.
The honest way to get an exact number is to bring your specific situation to a free first session; costs vary enough by destination, number of applications, and how much support you're looking for that a single blanket figure wouldn't be accurate to quote here.
How far in advance should I start the study abroad process?
As a general rule, 8–12 months before your intended intake gives you the most breathing room — enough time to research destinations properly, prepare for and retake a test if a first attempt falls short, gather and translate documents, apply to a realistic shortlist of universities, and go through visa processing without last-minute panic.
For MBBS abroad specifically, we recommend starting your university shortlist as soon as your NEET result is out, since intake timelines for many partner universities move quickly and popular options can fill available seats well before the semester actually begins.
That said, we regularly work with students who come to us with considerably less runway. The honest answer is that earlier is always better, but arriving "late" to the process is rarely a reason to give up on studying abroad for that particular cycle. Bring us your actual timeline in a free counselling session and we'll tell you plainly what's realistically achievable within it.
